10 "Foreign" Wrestlers Who Weren't Really Foreign At All
6. Umaga
As with Yokozuna, Umaga (Eddie Fatu) was part of the famous Anoa'i family. Fatu had previously worked at the company as one half of 3-Minute Warning with Rosey, a team known best for squashing victims if they didn't provide Eric Bischoff with three minutes of entertainment.
While the Umaga character was still of Samoan heritage, the gimmick was turned up to an unbelievable level with The Samoan Bulldozer sporting facial "tattoos" and traditional Samoan gear more akin to The Headshrinkers in the 90s. This probably wouldn't have been a problem had Umaga not already been known for being a gangster-like thug as Fatu.
What's worse is that WWE still let Umaga participate in events such as Tribute to the Troops, allowing him to break away from the Samoan savage character.
