Rewind to One Night Stand 2008, take in the stunning TLC main event between The Undertaker and Edge, then watch 'Taker stroll out of the San Diego Sports Arena with his head stooped and a mock tear in his eye. The lasting impression WWE wanted to leave here was that a legend had been forced out of his yard.

That wasn't quite the case. In fact, it was such a short-lived story that he was back on TV the very next month as though nothing had happened. Perhaps that's why it's so easily-forgotten to fans now.

A bogus gimmick like "Loser Leaves WWE" will forever be a hard sell in an era when fans have grown numb to it. That was the case a decade ago too; people knew 'Taker wasn't actually going anywhere, so it was tough for San Diego to respond in kind as the announcers bleated about the end of an era.

If nothing else, the match is enjoyable for The Undertaker's brave bump off a ladder through four tables at ringside. It's not every day you see him perform that kind of stunt, and he took the hit with so much aplomb it makes the phony departure easier to stomach.
