10 Forgotten One Night Only WWE Returns
7. Honky Tonk Man - Cyber Sunday 2008
While the Honky Tonk Man did make a memorable, one-stop cameo at Royal Rumble 2001, he also made a surprising return to in-ring WWE singles competition at the always interesting Cyber Sunday PPV in 2008.
Fans were given the option to choose the opponent of IC Champ, Santino Marella, with Roddy Piper, Goldust and Honky Tonk as the options. While Roddy Piper may seem like the overwhelming fan favourite on paper, this came at a time when Santino had been running his mouth for weeks about his Intercontinental Title run, even going as far as to have his own "Honk-A-Meter" that tallied up the length of his reign.
The Elvis lookalike beat out both Piper and Goldie for the right to face Santino with 35% of the vote. While the match itself was brief and the crowd seemed a little unsure how to react once the bell rang, Honky Tonk received a decent enough pop when he walked out the curtain. In fact, it was a rare babyface reaction for the man that made a career being primarily heel.
Despite HTM winning the vote, WWE made good use of the other two options and both 'Hot Rod' and 'The Bizarre One' made an appearance after the match. To date, it was the last WWE match in Honky Tonk Man's career.
