10 Forgotten One Night Only WWE Returns
5. 'Superstar' Billy Graham - Superstars 1986
Billy Graham was one of the most charismatic personalities in WWE history and his tie-dye clad return to the WWF was an eagerly anticipated event in 1986. Unfortunately, the initial return of the 'Superstar' would wind up doing far more harm than good for the former WWWF Champ.
His first appearance in the WWF for three years at that point, Graham was welcomed back with a huge ovation from the crowd. Strutting his way down the aisle, 'The Reflection of Perfection' did so to the sound of Bad To The Bone, a wild crowd in attendance and a noticeably excited Vince McMahon on commentary.
On that night, Graham squared off with journeyman jobber, Bob Bradley. After less than 90 seconds later, Graham looked to take it home with his patented bear hug submission. Whipping his opponent into the ropes, he grabbed Bradley around the lower back and lifted him off the ground only to awkwardly lower back to his feet soon after. In reality, the weight of Bradley had destroyed Graham's already weakened hip.
As a result of the injury, not only did Graham need surgery, but an entire hip replacement. The colourful legend wouldn't wrestle again for another 10 months and the severity of the injury ultimately led to his permanent retirement in 1987.
