10 Forgotten One Night Only WWE Returns
2. Greg Valentine - Heat 2005
Greg Valentine was a big name in the industry during the 1970s and '80s. The son of legendary grappler, Johnny Valentine, 'The Hammer' was one of the few men to participate in both the inaugural Starrcade and the first WrestleMania. Valentine also went on to have a memorable run as an Intercontinental and Tag Team Champion.
While he made sporadic appearances over the years that followed, it's surprising to see that WWE actually booked him in a fully fledged match against Rob Conway in 2005. To put it into perspective, Valentine's two championship reigns in WWE happened in the mid-'80s, so seeing Valentine back in WWE action 20 years later is almost mind-blowing.
Nevertheless, that's exactly what happened when legend-hating chauvinist, Rob Conway, battled 'The Hammer' in one-on-one competition on the October 21st edition of Heat. Conway had a point to prove, having been made a fool of by a host of legends at WWE Homecoming on October 3rd. However, the crowd were firmly behind the legend and Valentine held nothing back in his own homecoming match.
Sadly, for the veteran, Conway wound up winning by DQ after inadvertent interference from Eugene. The very next week, Conway would continue his assault on the legends of old by squaring off with Koko B. Ware.
