10 Forgotten One Night Only WWE Returns
1. Lance Storm - Heat 2005
Despite opting to retire from full-time active competition in mid-2004, it didn't take long for Lance Storm to go back on his decision and don the tights once more. In fact, less than one year later, Storm would be back in WWE for the hugely memorable ECW One Night Stand PPV. However, he also made an often overlooked stop over one week prior to that as well.
With Maven's planned opponent, Tajiri, pulled from their bout on the 5 June 2005 episode of Heat, Maven laid out a challenge to any ECW alumni that thought they could take him on. That man turned out to be Lance Storm himself. In a typically short opening bout on the Sunday night show, the Canadian picked up the victory with a springboard cross body.
While Storm's return to WWE TV just seven days before his PPV return seems like an odd booking decision on paper, there is logic behind it. The Heat taping took place in Calgary, Alberta (Storm's hometown), so it seems to have been more of a geographical situation more than a consciously planned return. Maven's involvement in Raw's anti-ECW "crusade" also played well into the overall story a made for a great bonus for the Canadian fans ahead of the ECW reunion.
