10 Forgotten Shawn Michaels Matches You Need To See

7. Vs. Chris Masters - Unforgiven 2005

At Unforgiven 2005, Shawn was coming up against Chris Masters in a veteran vs rookie clash. Masters, who was a very fresh talent, having only debuted for WWE a few months before, had the physique and size that historically Vince McMahon liked, and so was given an extraordinary push towards to top. He was dominating other opponents with ease, and his Masterlock submission was being billed as unbreakable. Although the audience believed that Shawn's experience would be the deciding factor (which it ultimately was), the match played out in such a way that Masters came off looking like a talented wrestler, rather than just another meat-head bodybuilder. Michaels told the story of him being afraid of being caught in Masters' unbroken Masterlock to perfection, finding every possible escape hold, way out and even resorting to cheating. The finish was masterful (pun entirely intended), with Shawn barely escaping with a win. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xy3ulr_shawn-michaels-vs-chris-masters_sport Even though Masters lost, this match gave him a rub like no other and was a highlight of his first run with the company.
