10 Forgotten WWE Wrestlers Who Were Supposed To Be Stars

5. Ezekiel Jackson

Admittedly, the rise of Ezekiel Jackson wasn't quite as prestigious as some of the others on this list. Just watching him on TV week after week, it seemed clear enough that WWE wanted to do something with him, but they were either never quite sure what, or things just didn't pan out. He entered WWE as many a great Superstar has- as a bodyguard who stands at ringside during other guys' matches. After a brief run on Smackdown, he was moved to ECW, thus breaking up his team with charge-turned-partner Brian Kendrick and becoming a solo act. All told, it went well enough for him, as he not only claimed the brand's belt, but he did so on the last episode of ECW, thereby becoming the last ECW champion ever in the record books. Unfortunately, it only seemed to be for the record books, as when everyone from ECW filtered to Raw or Smackdown, Jackson didn't have the belt with him, thus depriving him of a great tool for gloating. Nonetheless, he'd go on to become a part of Wade Barrett's Nexus offshoot/counterattack group, The Corre. Unfortunately, The Nexus was already circling the drain and The Corre- being the offbrand alternative whose most memorable feature was a Titantron video that looked like Metroplex's chest- didn't fare very well, leading to the group splitting and Ezekiel taking Wade's Intercontinental title. A couple of months later, he lost the belt to Cody Rhodes and ended up on a losing streak that only just ended before he found himself injured. He healed up, but appearances were sporadic, and with another surgery looming, he and WWE chose to officially part ways in early 2014.
