10 Former Stars Who Would Have Been Perfect For WWE's Women's Revolution
5. Mickie James
The second Mickie James stepped foot in WWE she set herself up as someone to watch. Placed in a storyline in which she became enamoured with Trish Stratus, it quickly descended into a lesbian angle and could have become the kind of cringe that WWE does so well.
However, between them, Stratus and James made it work and at WrestleMania 22 Mickie beat Trish to win her first Women’s Title. Her second title reign started just as well, with her beating Lita in what would be the latter’s retirement match.
Unfortunately, as the two legendary women rode off into the sunset, chances for James to impress went with them. It began the rise of the challenger of the month format in WWE’s women’s wrestling, and despite holding the belt a total of five times, she never managed to find that spark again.
It all, of course, led to Laycool and the now infamous ‘Piggy James’ angle, which seemed to be designed purely to humiliate Mickie and unsurprisingly she left the company soon after. However, James could be one of the few women to get a second chance. With her set to return to NXT TakeOver: Toronto to face Asuka, James will get the opportunity to write her place in the Women’s Revolution and prove that she should have been given these chances all along.
