Both singles male champions on SmackDown being heels made this difficult, especially considering how minimal the SmackDown roster is due to the pandemic and injuries. For Roman, there are clear opponents in the main event, but for Sami Zayn’s Intercontinental Championship, it’s not as straightforward.

There are obviously feuds with lots of prior groundwork like re-igniting tension with WrestleMania opponent Daniel Bryan or crafting another chapter in his never ending story with Kevin Owens. But for brand new feuds, there are few that could truly excel, except for a potential programme with Aleister Black.

One of the downsides of this idea is Black’s recent heel turn but that happened out of desperation and hasn’t went anywhere, so turning him back to babyface or making him an unforgiving antihero wouldn’t be too much of a big deal.

Aleister has yet to have that definitive main roster programme and his history with loudmouth cocky independent stars in NXT suggests that he’d be the perfect person to try and shut up Zayn with his Black Mass kick. It would undoubtedly be a match of the year contender and the feud could establish Black as the star he should be on the main roster.
