10 Friends Turned Foes In The UFC

7. Pat Barry And Antoni Hardonk

The forgotten son taking his chance to take down the favoured sibling is a tale as old as MMA itself. Pat Barry and Antoni Hardonk wrote their own chapter into the annals at UFC 104.

Barry claimed that he always looked up to the two's trainer at VAS Gym in Holland, Ernesto Hoost, but felt that his master held in him a lesser regard than the likes of Hardonk.

The former K1 kickboxers didn't touch gloves at the start of the fight and Hardonk - even though he'd claimed there was no grudge between the two - put this down to it being time for business and that they were teammates no more.

They went to war in an even match-up, Hardonk battering Barry in the first round, only for the latter to resurge and stop his training partner in the second.

Seeing as though Barry was skint and only six days away from eviction, he needed to win this fight and won Fight of the Night and Knockout of the Night. Those bonus cheques will have paid dividends and his new found respect couldn't have hurt either.

Hardonk on the other hand would be released from the UFC after the fight.

The best stories have high stakes, right?
