10 Friends Turned Foes In The UFC

8. Tyson Griffin And Evan Dunham

The Xtreme Couture teammates, Evan Dunham and Tyson Griffin, went toe to toe at UFC 115 and this fight sparked up an age old question in MMA: do fighters actually want to fight a member of their team?

Most fighters will wholeheartedly disagree with this idea as they don't want a fight to fracture the chemistry and relationships that have been established in the gym - some that are genuine recipes for success.

This fight meant that Dunham would have to relocate his training camp elsewhere, whereas Griffin was allowed the luxury of staying put with Xtreme Couture. Griffin was quick to add how Dunham was only a training partner and not a pal in the build up, looking not to add a personal narrative to the story.

Being forced away from your habitual environment would be expected to have an impact on your preparations, but Dunham defeated Griffin via split decision.

That must have planted seeds of doubt as to whether his residing team were in fact going about their work in the correct manner. Another unfortunate consequence that is stirred up by team fights.

This definitely ranks as one of the more tepid frenemy rivalries, but that is to be expected when your head coach is former UFC Heavyweight Champion, Randy Couture, who you can't imagine letting one fight derail his entire clan.
