10 Fun Facts About My Trip To The 25th Anniversary Of WWE WrestleMania

1. The Deadman And The Heartbreak Kid Steal The Show

Was there ever going to be any other choice for the top spot on this list? Going into WrestleMania, truth be told, I wasn't that excited about Undertaker and Shawn Michaels. Sure, I thought they'd have a good match but the hype didn't thrill me too much - maybe because before this Michaels was JBL's assistant and for a while it seemed like we might get 'Taker and Vladimir Kozlov at WrestleMania. Yikes! About halfway through the match, I noticed that every time there was a near fall, out entire section - thousands of people - would jump up. Every move or set up for a finish was more suspenseful than the last. When both men started kicking out of finishers, the atmosphere was electric. It seemed for a few minutes like Michaels was going to be the one to end The Streak. When Shawn kicked out of the tombstone and we saw The Dead Man's priceless look of disbelief, it only added to the drama. As the referee's hand hit the mat for the third time and Undertaker was the (eventual) victor, I knew I'd probably witnessed the best wrestling match I'll ever see live. When the event was over, and my friends and I discussed the card, we agreed that most of it was fine but not spectacular. I vividly recall what I said and I think it's the perfect way to end the article: "You know, I spent almost £2,000 on this trip all in, flights, hotels, tickets, spending money...but Undertaker and Michaels was worth every single penny. That's the greatest match I've ever seen".
