10 Fun Facts About My Trip To The 25th Anniversary Of WWE WrestleMania

8. WrestleMania Axxess Is Back

After the 2008 debacle that WWE tried to call Axxess, in a garden across the road from the Citrus Bowl with Hillbilly Jim and the National Guard, at least in 2009 the WWE decided to bring back Axxess properly in a convention center and go all out to make it the ultimate fan experience. As a big fan of the Undertaker, it was eerie and surreal to walk through The Dead Man's graveyard with tombstones for every one of his WrestleMania victims there, complete with dirt and an empty grave ready for Shawn Michaels if needed that Sunday. They even had some of the famous caskets that featured throughout 'Taker's career, like the gold one he used for Goldust and one for Yokozuna from the 1994 Hart Attack tour. It's still an attraction at Axxess today so if you're in town for WrestleMania, it's worth checking out at least once. There was a memorabilia section that was unbelievable - it had robes, boots, jackets and tights for all the major names of the past, from Andre and Hogan to Undertaker and Steve Austin. The line was packed and people couldn't believe they were getting the chance to see all of these iconic artifacts that make up the history of The Grandaddy of 'Em All. But my favourite part of Axxess that year was getting to meet some legends. First up, I headed over to see The American Dream, Dusty Rhodes and told him about my first experience of him being the polka dots at SummerSlam 89 with Honky Tonk Man. He was very kind and made it a great time. Then I spotted The Stooges, so while everyone was running to meet CM Punk, I headed for Patterson and Brisco. They were bantering back and forth, chatting away to everyone and the guy in front of me brought up their evening gown match at King of The Ring 2000. Luckily, they had a sense of humour about it. In short, Axxess, although repetitive if you go every year, is a must-see (at least one time) if you go to WrestleMania. There really is nothing like it!
