When we got to RAW the night after WrestleMania XXIV and they announced thered be a retirement ceremony for Ric Flair, I would never have expected that Id be in tears by the end of the show and it would be the most emotional Id ever be at a wrestling show. It all started off with Ric in the ring and various peers form Cena, Batista, HHH, Shawn Michaels, The Horsemen, Harley Race and others paying their respects to The Nature Boy and then the rest of the roster came out to all applaud the 35 year career of Flair. His family would get in the ring to celebrate with him which made Ric almost drown in a puddle of his own tears but it was when the show went off the air that things really started to pick up. The lights went out and The Undertaker came out to honour Flair. Given that he never breaks character, everyone around me was crying at Taker saluting Flair and Ric embracing The Dead Man. When Vince McMahon followed Taker out to the ring and hugged Flair in the ring, everyone in our section was beaming with smiles as the most extravagant retirement ceremony of all time was saved for the best wrestler in the history of the business, Ric Flair. Being in the Amway Arena for that moment is something Ill cherish forever and whenever I think of that weekend Ill think of that 20 minute celebration of the greatest career of all time, WOOOOOO!
