10 Fun Facts About My Trip To WWE WrestleMania XIX

5. Meeting Shawn Michaels And Acting Like A Moron

Back in 2003, there wasn€™t a whole week of events for WrestleMania like there is now but the one pre-Mania fan event you could go to was Fan Axxess. It€™s pretty similar to what they have now but on a smaller scale and, to be honest, a lot more intimate and enjoyable.

After I spent far more money than any grown man should at the merch stand and watched Michael Cole commentating matches with fans, I stood in line for an autograph signing with Booker T and Shawn Michaels. This was my first time ever meeting WWE wrestlers in person.

As I got to the front, I started panicking. What am I gonna say? Do I shake their hand?

As I approached the table, Booker T had a big smile on his face and asked me how I was before taking my programme to sign. As I nervously smiled and said thank you, I got to HBK. He was perfectly pleasant to me as I racked my brain thinking what I could say that would be cool or interesting and that wouldn€™t be just like everyone else.

€œGood luck in your match tomorrow€ was the best I could come up with. That€™s right, I wished The Showstopper good luck in his pre-determined wrestling match that weekend. What a buffoon.

I vowed then and there to never make a stupid comment to a wrestler again (an agreement I haven't been able to stick to).
