10 Fun Facts About My Trip To WWE WrestleMania XX
3. Witnessing The Goldberg Vs. Lesnar Disaster

Whenever I think about this match or watch it back, I can't help but laugh.
The buildup to Goldberg and Lesnar at WrestleMania XX (with Steve Austin as the referee) was great. I was pretty excited for the match, then word leaked the month before that Goldberg was leaving WWE immediately following the show. If that wasnt bad enough, just three days before the event, Dave Meltzer broke the news that Brock was quitting the company immediately following WrestleMania, too.
When the match was about to start, it was clear that the majority of the audience knew what was happening and subsequently rejected the whole thing. The broadcast doesnt do justice to just how much the MSG faithful didnt want these two having this match.
I vividly remember at one point while Goldberg had Lesnar in a headlock that there was a massive cheer in the upper deck where a fan dressed as Hulk Hogan and a fan dressed as Macho Man were re-creating The Mega Powers Exploding in the stands. That was genuinely more exciting than what was going on in the ring.
Goldberg pinned Brock and nobody cared. They were just happy the train-wreck was over. This bout had the potential to be incredible but it turned out to be a resounding DUD. Luckily, Steve Austin stunnered them both and the crowd were happy again.
