10 Fun Facts About My Trip To WWE WrestleMania XXVI
2. Bret Hart & Vince McMahon Disaster
I wanna start off this entry by saying that I'm a huge Bret Hart fan and I know he's going to beat cancer. As the little boy in the New Generation ad would say; "Go get 'em, champ!". When it became clear Bret Hart would have a fight with Vince McMahon at WrestleMania, I was really excited about it. Bret's one of the best ever so he wouldn't do it unless he knew he could pull it off, right? Wrong. This match is one of the worst things I've ever witnessed in person. The Hart Family being paid off but immediately turning face made no sense, Bret couldn't take one kick or punch from Vince and it ended up being Vince getting beaten up for a lot longer than he should have. At one point, Bret was hitting Vince with a chair and had to have a seat and take a break. I sat with my head in my hands in that stadium. We wanted to love it, but by the end it was just sad. Luckily, Bret would go on to have a fun US Title win and a great performance at SummerSlam to redeem himself, but this match was dreadful. My favourite part of it though was Bruce Hart, in the shades, over egging being the referee by about 2 million per cent. He's a ridiculous human who still makes me laugh to this day.
