9. Fawlty Towers Of San Jose

If I never see the San Jose Airport Garden Hotel again, it'll be too soon. If you've ever seen John Cleese and Manuel in the legendary UK comedy, Fawlty Towers, they could've done a better job than this mob in San Jose.

First off, we get to the hotel on the Thursday and I explained that for podcasting, I needed to be able to use Skype on the internet, which the front desk told me wouldn't be a problem. Sadly, the connection in the room was so bad you could barely load Facebook never mind Skpye but the front desk told me they'd handle it and I could use the "Business Center" to get online.

When the hotel said Business Center, I can't convey just how far those words are from describing the room that they put me in. There were three sofas covered in clingfilm, one PC from 1998, an empty box for a Terry Funk figure and a banana peel.

Oh yeah and THE INTERNET DIDN'T WORK!

I managed to podcast through the phone as a last resort but then, on another night in the hotel, we come back late with some takeaway food and we can't get into our room. Security alert us that the door's broken.

Suddenly a lightbulb goes off and he has an idea. He walks us round to the back of our room where there's a patio door, which he proceeds to open with the greatest of ease.

We were baffled and asked "How did you open the patio door when we locked it from the inside?" He chuckled and said "Oh no, they aren't locked from the outside, it's broken, I've done this loads of times".

Take a second to digest that.

Moral of the story? Don't stay at this hotel, ever. It's a dump.
