8. The Godfather Flips Out At Hotel Check In
This year at WrestleMania weekend, Charles Wright was being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame which meant he got to stay in the posh WWE hotel, got paid a pretty handsome fee and got the adulation of over 100,000 people at his induction.
Last year, The Godfather was part of WrestleCon at the beautiful (insert sarcasm here) San Jose Airport Garden Hotel. As we were checking in, Wright arrived with his family for the reception staff to explain they didn't have a booking for him.
Five minutes passed and as we sat there, old Papa Shango was getting angrier and angrier that he had to stand at the front desk with his bags as hoards of fans passed through trying to talk to him.
Eventually, Godfather explained to his wife that if the situation didn't get sorted soon, they'd be flying home. Luckily, as he was about to blow his gasket, quite rightly so, the hotel staff got their act together and gave him a room.
My other memory of Charles from last year was seeing him at the WrestleCon convention as he stopped signing photos due to an atrocious smelling fart and as he went to investigate, he found a chuckling Brian Knobbs reveal himself from a curtain to be the perpetrator.
What a difference a year makes.
