10 Fun Facts From My Trip To WWE WrestleMania XXVII
3. Undertaker & Triple H Saved WrestleMania
Miz being in the main event at WrestleMania was fresh. Nobody new/not established had broken into a 'Mania main event since Edge got there in 2008. But as soon as Rock got involved, Miz became a supporting player. On the night in Atlanta, Lawler/Cole was a letdown, The Rock's Flinstones act was baffling and the main event outcome with Rock, Cena and Miz wasn't that exciting. Luckily, one match saved the entire night. All The Undertaker and Triple H had to do was point at a sign. 'Taker had his undefeated streak and all that The Game had left to do in wrestling was break it. The entrances for this match are among the best in WrestleMania history, with Undertaker coming down to Johnny Cash's "Ain't No Grave" and Triple H entering to the thunderous sound of Metallica's. "For Whom The Bell Tolls". Me and my crew got goosebumps so many times watching it live. Instead of trying to pretend they were ten years younger and have a technically sound match, this was a brawl from start to finish with chairs and shortcuts used to draw our interest. In all the years of going to WrestleMania, the spot where Triple H hit the tombstone and went for the pin remains the most intense nearfall I've ever witnessed. The finish, with 'Taker barely able to get the victory, was a relief because our section simply couldn't take any more suspense. The whole match was masterful and if it wasn't for that match, this WrestleMania would've been a DUD.
