Anticipation was high for The Rock and CM Punk's first match against each other at the 2013 Royal Rumble. The match was for the WWE Championship and the two stars had delivered some first-class promos in the buildup. As for the match itself, it was something of a curiosity to most given the vast size difference and the fact that Rock was a part-time worker who had only stepped into the ring a few times in the last few years. The two went out and had a great back-and-forth match that lasted nearly thirty minutes. But not everything went according to plan during the match and one big spot was regrettably botched. Towards the end of the contest, Rock went to Rock Bottom Punk through the notorious Spanish announce table but as the two jumped to execute the move the table broke under their weight. They ended up taking a header into the table and it was a bit of an anti-climax. Rock, to his credit, took the mishap in his stride and immediately went to sell his knee.
