10 Future AEW World Champions

8. Sammy Guevara

Mjf Aew Champ
AEW

Sammy Guevara has been in the headlines for wrong reasons recently. Highly offensive comments that Guevara made about Sasha Banks came to light, leading many to speculate that Sammy might even be released by AEW. That hasn't come to pass, but the man's push has certainly been curtailed. AEW made an official statement on the matter, and Guevara publicly apologised to The Boss, who went on to accept that apology.

Does that mean that Sammy Guevara's chances of reaching the top of the AEW mountain are over? It may well mean that, but the history of professional wrestling teaches us that nothing is permanent. Before the comments surfaced, Sammy Guevara's name would have been top of most 'future AEW World Champions' lists, such is the man's talent and the quality of his showings on Dynamite so far.

With regards to Guevara's future, you could well copy and paste the Jungle Boy comments here. If AEW manages to survive the coming years, the Spanish God is likely to be a major player on the heel side of the ledger, feuding with Jungle Boy and Darby Allin for all eternity. Expect the AEW World Championship to play a major part in those feuds.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
