Around 2 full years on from first introducing In Your House as a concept, the WWF still hadn't been able to make each event indispensable to customers. That trend continued with In Your House 13: Final Four, a pay-per-view set to be headlined by a Fatal-4-Way Elimination Match for the vacant WWF Heavyweight Title.

After Shawn Michaels had "lost his smile" and vacated the gold, Bret Hart, Steve Austin, The Undertaker and Vader were pushed together with the purpose of finding a new champion. Amidst sadness over Shawn's apparent injury, the quartet produced a whirlwind effort that really had fans in Chattanooga, Tennessee rocking.

It was the only match that did so, everything else once again seemed like glorified house show fodder. Marc Mero vs. Leif Cassidy, The Nation Of Domination vs. Goldust, Bart Gunn and Flash Funk, and Rocky Maivia vs. Hunter Hearst Helmsley were all instantly forgettable.

Owen Hart and The British Bulldog vs. Doug Furnas and Phil LaFon was a match that tried, but it was only the blood and thunder of the 4-way main event that truly satisfied the watching audience that night.
