10 Genius Ways Wrestlers Proved The Critics Wrong

1. Roman Reigns Becomes The Heel He Was Born To Be

ACKNOWLEDGE HIM!

*Ahem*. Sorry about that. This writer seldom marks out for anyone these days, but will always make an exception for the WWE's resident Tribal Chief, Roman Reigns.

Roman's story is similar to that of Naito's - an over-pushed babyface finally hits his stride after a much-needed heel turn - but there are some differences. Most notable is that while Naito specifically blamed the fans for making him break bad, Roman's turn to the dark side had very little to do with the WWE audience, and everything to do with embracing who he truly is.

Truthfully, Roman never worked as the babyface WWE pushed him as. This writer has said it before, but WWE's "Big Dog" nickname for Roman never made sense when the company was dead set on pushing him as the underdog in every major feud he was in. And Roman being the underdog never made sense because he's an extremely talented, genetically gifted, broodingly charismatic hunk of a man.

It was impossible to ever view Roman as an every-man hero, because he isn't every man. He is a megastar, through and through - the kind of man who knows every eye is on him whenever he enters the room, and revels in the fact. It's what makes him the biggest star in the WWE, a fact that Roman is fully aware of and exploits to his full advantage in his storyline role as the Tribal Chief.

Some people are born to be stars in this business, and Roman Reigns became his best self when WWE let him - and us - acknowledge this simple fact.
