10 Genius Ways WWE Stars Recovered From Absolute Disaster

2. Becky Lynch

Disaster: The problem with Paige's cutting jibe about Becky being the least relevant of "all of us" in 2015 was that it sorta' stuck like mud. WWE appeared to agree, turning Bex into Charlotte Flair's sidekick for years. When she wasn't fetching the tea, Lynch was depicted as a chirpy Irish lass who was happy to be there.

These characteristics came to define her for too long. By 2018, Becky was struggling to remain relevant as a standalone name despite her enduring popularity with fans. Something had to change. In fact, no, everything had to change.

How She Recovered: Becky cultivated a persona that blurred traditional WWE thinking on gender. 'The Man' was born, partly out of frustration and partly because of advice from Shawn Michaels (on the set of The Marine 6) that Lynch begin presenting herself as a top star Vince McMahon would take notice of.

It worked. When Becky stopped pandering to fans, they suddenly loved the rebellion and cheered louder than they had for her 'Straight Fire' of before. Lynch's 'Man' gimmick transformed her from women's division runt to WrestleMania headliner and legit hot sh*t.
