If the term wasn’t already called X-Pac Heat, Roman Reigns could be the guy to name it after. Much has already been said about Roman Reigns’ babyface run in the WWE, but for a solid six years or so the company continued to position Reigns as the be all and end all main eventer.

For the next few years, WWE would try anything to get the inexperienced Reigns over, from showing his power by beating the Undertaker at WrestleMania to even giving him beautiful baby blue contact lenses. Very little changed the fact that he was the most hated man in WWE for most fans, despite being billed as the ultimate hero.

After some time off during the COVID-19 pandemic, Roman Reigns finally did the unthinkable and the thing that even his main event predecessor John Cena had never done.

Fans had begged for years that Roman be turned heel as his cocky smirk and intense physique just screamed “bad guy”. As the appearance, demeanour and even music changed, The Tribal Chief began to win over the fans and now the argument has been whether or not the character truly even is a villain.

Reigns and the Bloodline carry SmackDown in a way that WWE wished he had done prior but, ironically, the audience often still reacts the opposite way to intended. At least this time, Reigns doesn’t have “go away” heat.
