10 Gimmicks WWE Cancelled For Being TOO SUCCESSFUL

6. 'Swing King' Cesaro

Behold a rare example of Paul Heyman failing as a manager.

Sure, experiments alongside Ryback and Curtis Axel sucked balls, but those lads were never a good fit for the ex-ECW mad scientist anyway. Cesaro, meanwhile, is a wrestling machine who should've worked out well as the latest 'Paul Heyman Guy'. The issue? WWE's timing was dreadful.

Cesaro won their Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania XXX. He even shook hands with a departing Big Show (in an overlooked passing of the torch moment) before posing with the trophy. Fans were right into his 'Swing King' ways, and it looked like WWE had a babyface with momentum in their midst.

'That'll be f*cking right', said Vince McMahon (probably). He repackaged Cesaro as Heyman's boy, then stripped away all of the things that had made the Swiss star popular in the first place. Why did they book him to look so strong as a baby at 'Mania if they didn't want fans to cheer the guy?!
