10 Glaring Main Event Pushes WWE Missed Out On

10. Shelton Benjamin

There's one distinct argument raised whenever Shelton Benjamin comes up amongst pro wrestling fans. As talented as the guy was between the ropes, he was painfully average with a microphone in his hand. Whilst that's undeniable, it really shouldn't have stopped him from becoming a bigger star. After all, the likes of Chris Benoit and even Randy Orton could never be accurately described as excellent talkers. Both of those men managed to win World Titles, and the latter is still a focal point of WWE's product today. Benjamin certainly threatened the top line mix a few times, but could never make permanent residence at the top of the card. WWE could have remedied this by giving him a manager. Someone like Paul Heyman would have been ideal for Shelton, because the positives are plain for all to see with the man. Incredible physical ability should have offset his verbal limitations. That's what managers are there for, to mask deficiencies on the mic. Better yet, the 'Gold Standard' character he was playing from 2007-2010 had potential.
