10 Great Chris Benoit Moments WWE Shouldn't Let You Forget
5. Chris Benoit & Chris Jericho vs. Triple H & Steve Austin - Raw 2001
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WBKW8gyAxFc In the weeks following Wrestlemania X-7, the heel alliance of Triple H and Steve Austin was running wild all over the World Wrestling Federation. The newly turned Austin was seeking to find success as a heel and Triple H was the WWF's version of a cartoon supervillain, When they clashed with the fast-rising team of Chris Benoit and Chris Jericho, the result was one of the hottest finishes in company history. In addition to being the company's top heels, Austin and Triple H were also the WWF tag team champions. Benoit and Jericho were the hot newcomers who people were ready to get behind in a main event slot. The match that resulted was fantastic as Triple H and Austin worked as a heel team perfectly while Benoit and Jericho sold like crazy and made their comebacks at exactly the right times. Eventually, Jericho applied the Walls of Jericho to Steve Austin in the middle of the ring. As Austin screamed, Triple H ran into the ring to break up the submission. However, when Hunter planted his foot, his quad muscle ripped and rolled up his leg like a window shade. Since this is professional wrestling, the match continued of course. To show how tough Triple H actually is, he then cleared off an announce table and got reversed by Jericho, taking the Walls on the announce table only moments after completely tearing his quad. It's enough to make you cringe 13 years later. Hunter somehow limped into the ring with his trusty sledgehammer, only to accidentally hit Steve Austin with the weapon. Benoit tackled Hunter to the outside and Jericho pinned Austin for the win and the titles.
