10 Great Forgotten Matches You Must Watch On WWE Network

2. Dean Malenko VS Scotty 2 Hotty (Backlash 2000)

WWE.comWWE.comYou have to give Scotty 2 Hotty credit where it's due... even though he had a very silly "comedy" character, he was more than capable enough in the ring. In fact, he was actually a very good worker. Malenko, of course, is one of the best pure technicians the business has ever seen. The match ended up being Malenko at his dick-ish best, targeting Scotty's knee and basically beating the hell out of him. Scotty played a good face-in-peril, and the crowd got into his comeback attempts, but he was usually thwarted right as things were looking to go his way. Right when things were looking good for him, they both went to the top rope, and it looked like Scotty was going to hit a Superplex, but Malenko reversed the move in mid-air, and delivered a super sick Avalanche DDT to pick up the win. At the time, it blew everyone away. You certainly weren't used to seeing a move like that take place on WWF programming, and it happened so suddenly, so you had no time to prepare for it. It just happened, and jaws hit the floor. Overall, a nice old school match, with a heel working over a certain body part (psychology is almost lost in wrestling these days), and being a dick about it, and an ending that was fantastic. Not much to complain about.
