10 Great Matches Hidden On WWE PPV Kickoff Shows

2. WeeLC (Extreme Rules 2014)

Haters be damned: WeeLC was awesome.

This match really should've sucked. Hornswoggle was long past his sell-by date, even as a novelty act, while El Torito, though extremely talented, was rarely anything more than a high-flying miniature novelty. Throw WWE's comedic track record into the mix, and the end result should've been a shambles reminiscent of the disastrous Royal Family vs. Clowns R' Us match at Survivor Series 1994.

Instead, we got one of the greatest comedy bouts of all-time. The booking was largely seen as a complete joke prior to the event, but 'Swoggle and Torito successfully turned all but their grumpiest critics. Steel chairs, tables, and tiny little ladders all came into play as the duo flung themselves around ringside, and the other members of Los Matadores and 3MB played an important role too, delivering a number of nutty spots.

Torito flattened 3MB with a dive to the outside. Hornswoggle sent his opponent crashing through a miniature announce table with a diving elbow. Jinder Mahal and Los Matadores got sent through a pile of ladders and tables. It was an odd tone-setter for an event branded "Extreme Rules," but a perfect slab of goofy comedy that exceeded all expectations.
