10 Great Matches Starring Dud Wrestlers

7. Lex Luger & Sting Vs. The Steiner Brothers - WCW SuperBrawl 1991

Lex Luger was - at least in WCW - an incredibly over talent, which often helped disguise the drudgery of his matches.

He had the look beloved of promotors in the halcyon, steroid permissible days of the Rock n' Wrestling era, but his offence never looked befitting of it. That said, he could transcend his limitations when paired with the right opponents - and the Steiners were at their formidable peak in 1991.

The exchanges between Scott Steiner and Sting are absolutely electric - Steiner throws himself across the width of the ring at one point in order to take a slingshot onto the top rope - but Rick and Luger's contributions are not inconsiderable.

Luger, with his unbelievably smooth selling of Rick Steiner's top rope bulldog, is the one who transitions this match from being a respectful, high-paced exhibition of the tag art form fought between four friends into a frenetic brawl. Tensions boil over after a series of blind and missed tags create an environment of distrust, removed entirely from the handshake which initiated proceedings.

The screwy finish, which sees Nikita Koloff's unwelcome interference gift the Steiners the win, is only a slight blemish on what is a masterwork of both content and story.
