10 Great Moments In Average WWE Careers
5. The Nexus Debuts
The debut of the Nexus is one of the most brutal incidents seen on RAW in the PG era.
Led by Wade Barrett, the winner of season one of NXT before it was repackaged into the success story it is today, Daniel Bryan, Justin Gabriel, David Otunga, Skip Sheffield, Heath Slater, Michael Tarver and Darren Young took siege of the main event between John Cena and CM Punk and ambushed everybody in sight, from announcers to cameramen.
The group of eight ripped off protective matting and security barriers to leave the ringside area looking like a bomb scene, with a lack of commentary over the action conditioning the viewers at home to experience the same unease as those in attendance at the arena. The rookies, minus Bryan who was legitimately fired by WWE for choking Justin Roberts with a tie, should have been red hot going forward - but were never as powerful as this again.
It was only Bryan upon his return who made much of his career from this launching pad, although WWE must take much of the blame there. Barrett and Sheffield, as Ryback, sniffed the main event scene, and Slater remains with the company - the only one who does as an active competitor - but for Gabriel, Otunga, Tarver and Young, this was as good as it got.
