10 Great WCW Moments No One Ever Talks About

1. Halloween Havoc 1995 - Arn Anderson & Brian Pillman vs. Sting & Ric Flair

Ric Flair and Arn Anderson had been friends and tag partners for years but 1995 saw Ric and Arn finally reaching their breaking point and a fantastic storyline resulted. The two best friends had their first-ever match against each other at Fall Brawl 1995, resulting in the locker room clearing out to watch. Brian Pillman interfered in the match, kicking Flair in the head and allowing Anderson to DDT his best friend for the win. Flair was desperate for revenge on Pillman and Anderson, so he tried to recruit longtime nemesis Sting as his partner for Halloween Havoc. Ric Flair even went so far as to bring out a group of kids with Sting's face paint on to guilt Sting. Since Sting has long been regarded by smarks as the "dumbest man in wrestling", he finally agreed to be Flair's partner and battle the evil duo. Unfortunately for Sting, Flair was "attacked" early on in the show so Sting was forced to start the match by himself. The live crowd, who apparently desperately wanted to believe that Ric Flair was finally a hero, started chanting "We want Flair!" almost immediately and very loudly. The heels were laying a beating on Sting and looked to just about have him finished when Ric Flair stormed the ring in his street clothes. The crowd went absolutely nuts and Flair was awesome in his role, throwing his shoes at Arn Anderson and screaming inspirational messages at Sting. Finally, Sting fought out of the corner, sucked up his last ounce of strength, and tagged in Ric Flair. Of course, Ric Flair immediately turned on him. That's right, it was all an elaborate scheme for a colossal Four Horsemen beatdown on Sting. It was a fantastic payoff for an angle that built for months. Even though most people saw it coming, the angle was still effective because of how great everyone was in their role.
