10 Great Wrestling Matches Made Up On The Fly

3. Kurt Angle vs. Shane McMahon (WWF King Of The Ring 2001)

Shane McMahon was knocked almost as goofy as KOTR '98 Mick Foley three years later in 2001.

Unbeknownst to Shane and Kurt Angle, the sugar glass panels on the set had been replaced by real glass due to fears from production that pyrotechnics would shatter then during entrances. That meant McMahon bounced off the glass rather than crashing through it when Angle suplexed him.

These crazy bastards wouldn't be denied.

After trying to briefly adapt and consider changing their plans, Shane and Kurt both said, 'f*ck it' and repeated the spot until McMahon did go through the glass pane. At Gorilla, Vince McMahon was concerned over the health of his son and told referee Mike Chioda to let them know to stop the match. Much to his annoyance, both ignored the boss.

Angle and Shane had to call some stuff on the fly after the glass bump, partly because McMahon was almost unconscious and partly because Kurt had suffered a broken tailbone earlier in the entranceway. They struggled on and made the best of things.
