10 Great Wrestling Pairings That Didn't Last Long Enough

10. Trish Stratus And Christian

Chris Jericho and Christian were a pretty entertaining duo who formed in 2002. While they were mostly used as comedy fodder (their most memorable moment in that aspect was The Dudley Boyz discovering Christian’s disturbingly large jar of “Ass Cream”), they eventually set their sights on Trish Stratus and Lita. They had a bet to see who could sleep with one of the women first (for an entire Canadian dollar!). Even though Trish found out about it, she stuck by Jericho. It was like a wacky romantic comedy.

Eventually Jericho and Christian battled it out at WrestleMania, and Trish turned on Y2J, thereby forming a relationship with his former good friend. It was a much better fit. Christian and Trish made a great couple, and she began doing the best mic work of her career. The addition of Tyson Tomko to the act made them even stronger, and it seemed like the company was going to have a great new power couple that could perhaps work their way up to the main event.

Why They Split: At Backlash, the lovers took on Jericho in a handicap match, but came out on the losing side of it. Then Christian badly injured his back in a cage match against Y2J on Raw, and missed four months of in-ring action. The entertaining couple's love must not have been very strong, as that time off was enough to end their relationship. Much like the entertaining Kurt Angle/Stephanie McMahon storyline, Trish and Christian didn’t receive a satisfying ending, despite over eight months being devoted to the entire angle.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
