10 Great Wrestling Pairings That Didn't Last Long Enough

ShowMiz - WrestleMania 26 - Big Show, Miz

Both Big Show and The Miz have been given a bunch of random partners throughout their career, but when they were stuck together, it clicked in a way that few probably would have predicted.

In 2010, the tag team division was in shambles. Miz was struggling to gain credibility and Big Show needed something, anything, to become relevant again. On an episode of Raw, guest host Napoleon Dynamite...I mean Jon Heder, booked the two to take on the reformed DX. In that one match, Show and Miz displayed enough chemistry for them to stick together for a bit. A few weeks later they beat Shawn Michaels and Triple H for the Unified Tag Team Titles, and quickly shot to the top of the division.

They successfully held onto the gold at WrestleMania 26 (in a far too short 3 minute match against John Morrison and R-Truth), but dropped them to The Hart Dynasty a few weeks later. That was it. Big Show turned on Miz by punching him in the yap. No build up to it, it just happened. An entertaining four month tag team suddenly ended out of nowhere.

Why They Split: It seems that WWE once again wanted Big Show as a singles star, as he moved into a feud with World Heavyweight Champion Jack Swagger. Miz also began his big push a few months later at Money in the Bank.

While it eventually all worked out for both men, at the very least, Miz probably would have been taken a bit more seriously during his run with the WWE Title if he had Show as his enforcer.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
