Hulk Hogan made a lot of money teaming up with (and feuding against) Macho Man Randy Savage and The Ultimate Warrior in his WWF run. However, his popular friends never teamed up with each other...until 1992. Originally, the plan was for Warrior to turn against Macho, but he refused (Warrior being difficult? That’s unheard of!), so instead the two were paired together as a sort of weird, colorful, larger than life duo that was kind of a dream tag team for fans.

To give Warrior some props, the guy did play along in the team. He wore sunglasses with “Maniacs” printed across the front and even wore a singlet with the wording on it. It would have been intriguing to see how they would have fanned out together, as Hogan always had one of those two playing second fiddle to him. With Savage and Warrior being cast as equals, perhaps they could have had a successful run near the top of the card and eventually capture the Tag Team Titles.

Why The Split: Believe it or not, this was all on Warrior. He was using some illegal substances to maintain his physique and was busted. Shortly before The Ultimate Maniacs were set to do battle against Ric Flair and Razor Ramon, Warrior was let go from the WWF and Mr. Perfect took his place. The Maniacs never teamed up again.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
