10 Great Wrestling Pairings That Didn't Last Long Enough

5. Air Boom

Okay, looking past the lousy name, Air Boom should have been the top tag team in WWE for quite some time. Air Boom shirts would have sold like hot cakes! After all, the company has often achieved success by pairing young, exciting faces together (The Can-Am Connection, The Rockers, The Hardy Boyz) and it seemed that for a brief amount of time Kofi Kingston and Evan Bourne were going to fill that role.

While they had tagged together on a few occasions, the two made their pairing official in 2011. They quickly defeated Michael McGillicutty (I will never not hate spelling that name) and David Otunga for the Tag Team titles. For the next couple of months they put on some entertaining matches, and quickly became one of the highlights of Raw.

Why They Split: In Nov. of 2011, Bourne was busted for failing the Wellness Policy. When he came back, it seemed that management wanted to continue punishing him, as Air Boom quickly dropped the titles to Primo and Epico. A few weeks after that, Bourne was busted once more and the team was broken up for good. It would be a couple more years before Kofi found success again in the tag division.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
