10 Great WWE Championship Reigns (That Ended In The Worst Way Possible)

2. Becky Lynch - WWE RAW Women's Championship

For well over a year, Becky Lynch has been the dominant force in WWE. You could arguably stretch that back to the end of 2018 when the then-underrated Lynch began riding a wave of fan-generated momentum, the likes of which haven’t been seen since the halcyon days of 2013 Daniel Bryan. It quickly became a buzzword, a catchphrase, but Becky Lynch really has been The Man.

Lynch held the RAW Women’s Championship for 392 days, a record-breaking reign that saw her vanquish all pretenders to the throne. Shayna Baszler’s ascension to the main roster seemed like the natural time to transition the belt away from Lynch, but the Irish star managed to survive the challenge and continue her dominant reign. Who could dethrone the top star in the company?

Nobody, as it turned out. Lynch relinquished the title on this week’s RAW, announcing to the world that she is pregnant with the Monday Night Messiah’s child. Rollins didn’t take the news too well and don’t even start to query how Asuka didn’t realise that her briefcase had a championship belt inside, but they are both stories for another time. These are exciting times for The Man and Mr. The Man.

With all this in mind, couldn’t Lynch have dropped the title to Baszler? The segment with Asuka was heartwarming, tear-jerking even, but what a way to end a 392-day reign on top. Maybe it was all a dream, after all.
