10 Great WWE Characters That Have Grown Stale

9. Ricochet

You don't need to be a genius to understand the mechanics of stagnation. No matter how shiny something is, if you leave it neglected for too long it will grow stale. WWE has never had a shinier toy than Ricochet, and their baffling decision to leave the man so unappreciated will be a stain on the company's creative team for years to come.

What can Ricochet do about it? 'Super Athletic Athlete Who Can Do Extraordinary Things' Ricochet should have been the easiest of goals for WWE, but the biggest wrestling promotion in the world has somehow managed to make this extraordinary performer seem, well, ordinary. Something needs to change with Ricochet, and soon.

He needs to turn heel. That isn't about to happen, as he needs to get revenge on Cedric Alexander first, but super cocky heel Ricochet should be just as easy to get right as babyface Ricochet was supposed to be. When he arrived in NXT, Ricochet was seemingly given carte-blanche to get himself over via incredible feats of athleticism, and it worked. How could it not?

Somewhere along the way, Ricochet has been left to gather dust in the attic.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
