Everyone loves a shocking crossover, and NXT teased a pretty big one in late 2015. That's when James Storm, who had made his name on the TNA roster for more than a decade, surprisingly showed up for a handful of matches in NXT.

Storm's debut caught the Full Sail crowd off-guard, and it's worth rewatching on the WWE Network. An unfamiliar country song blared over the speakers, and out came "The Cowboy" in his signature Stetson hat to a massive pop.

Both of Storm's televised matches were short, but showed why Storm had achieved so much elsewhere in the wrestling world. He squashed Danny Burch and Adam Rose in a pair of fast-paced matches designed to make him look like a killer, and a promo exists on the WWE YouTube channel where he touts his own arrival. Excitement was palpable, especially since Storm clearly seemed to have plenty left in the tank (both in the ring and on the microphone).

It was awesome, it was thrilling... and then it was over. Storm opted to re-sign with TNA at the start of 2016. His Beer Money tag team with Bobby Roode was reunited, but Roode himself would make the jump to NXT just a few short months later. One has to wonder what might have been if Storm stuck it out, especially given everything his former partner accomplished after jumping ship.
