Speaking of ladder matches...

...and speaking of Jeff Hardy. And Rob Van Dam. And 2002. Here's another thrilling and dangerous match that came from out of nowhere. Seriously, Eric Bischoff just made the match during a rambling opening promo. Oh yeah, and it was going to unify the European and Intercontinental titles, too.

Why wouldn't you advertise that?!? Anyway, advertised in advance or not, this one was well worth watching. Jeff was a bit hit-and-miss during this period but he was 'on' during this one. Whether it was because there were ladders involved or he was in the ring with one of his favourite opponents, I dunno, but he was game and he put his body through hell for our entertainment.

There were some truly crazy bumps in this one and they managed to pack a lot into their seven minutes. Jeff hit a Swanton Bomb onto a ladder that was lying on top of Van Dam, RVD hit a gorgeous sunset flip powerbomb from the top of the ladder onto the rainbow-haired warrior and Mr. Monday Night capped it off with a Five-Star Frogsplash from the top of the ladder.

He walked out as the Intercontinental Champion, unifying it with the European strap. I can't imagine how he was walking the next day...
