10 Great WWE United States Championship Matches You Completely Forgot About

9. Cesaro Vs. Tyson Kidd - NXT 2012

Tyson Kidd is good. Like, really, really good. He would go on to win tag team gold with Cesaro before suffering a life-threatening injury in 2015, but when people take stock of World Wrestling Entertainment's most underrated performers, Tyson Kidd is invariably in the conversation.

The problem with him, though, is that he seemingly falls short of having classic matches. He is a model of consistency, a wrestling textbook in action, and this special United States Championship match against Cesaro on NXT is a great example of that. Everything is smooth, everything is slick and everything is done to a tee.

It's just lacking some sort of urgency. I shan't complain too much, as it is pretty darn good. JR and William Regal are on the call too, which adds to the entire thing. Kidd controls the vast majority of the match, but Antonio survives with his championship thanks to a quick one-two of Swiss Death followed by the Gotch Neutralizer.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
