10 Greatest Cage Matches In WWE History
1. Kurt Angle Vs. Chris Benoit - Raw (11 June 2001)
Throughout the illustrious history of WWE, few men have ever had the in-ring chemistry of Chris Benoit and Kurt Angle. The level of intensity shared by the two men was unrivaled and saw them produce a series of classic bouts, none more jaw-dropping than their spectacular cage match on Raw.
With WWF Champion Steve Austin watching in awe from the commentary table, both men left it all in the ring and no quarter was given on either side. Each man made the most of their surroundings and every throw into the cage was done with such conviction that the match resembled a bar brawl at times... if your local bar happened to host a spectacular war between two of the best wrestlers of all time.
When they weren't launching each other into the cage itself, they traded enough suplexes to leave you bruised just watching. This bout also marked the very first time Angle did his huge moonsault off the cage - and man, is it a visual to this day. Crazier still, Benoit attempted to raise the bar further, with an insane diving headbutt off the cage just minutes later.
While some bouts age with time, this is one cage match that is still as epic today as it was back in 2001.
