10 Greatest Cage Matches In WWE History
2. Bret Hart Vs. Owen Hart - SummerSlam 1994
Cage matches are traditionally viewed as being a violent war of attrition between two men, hungry for blood and looking to settle a score. That wasn't the case when Hart brothers, Bret and Owen, squared off in a WrestleMania rematch at SummerSlam 1994.
Unlike WrestleMania, this time the bout was to be contested within a Steel Cage and the WWF Championship would be on the line. It had all the making of a classic and it it delivered in spades.
Owen immediately took the fight to his brother. However, 'The Excellence of Execution' wasn't going to go easy on his little brother either. The two traded holds, moves, and fists for over 30 minutes, all the while attempting to exit the cage before the other. The story that unfolded was spectacular and neither man held anything back.
Bret finally achieved victory when Owen's leg slipped through the cage while both men were perched on the outside. With Owen hung up in the cage, Bret dropped down to the floor to retain his title. However, the story didn't end there.
The post-match saw Jim Neidhart return to action, jumping Bret in the aftermath, as the rest of the Hart family looked on. Meanwhile, British Bulldog also made his return to the company after a two year absence, coming to the aid of Bret.
