Individually, Bobby 'The Brain' Heenan and Gorilla Monsoon were wonderful characters. When placed together however, they were one of the most entertaining duos in WWE history. Crucially, both men appeared to be having a blast when alongside one another. This beamed across to fans watching at home. Sharp as a tack, Heenan and Monsoon were a riot. They didn't even need to be announcing wrestling matches to be brilliant. Looking at their appearances on Prime Time Wrestling together, there was a whole load of improvised comedy which just wouldn't have happened with anyone else. Just like Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler, Monsoon was the more straight-laced announcer to Heenan's wacky persona. Those different characters came together to produce something magical. Unashamedly acting as a cheerleader for the heels, Heenan regularly got on Monsoon's nerves. It wasn't uncommon to hear the Gorilla say that he was going to knock Bobby out, or announce the familiar, 'Will you stop!?' and, 'Will you be serious?' lines. Behind the scenes, Bobby and Gorilla became best friends, which only helped made their performances all the more endearing.
