CM Punk’s WWE departure in January of last year may have something of a bad taste in the mouth, but not before his flying elbow had provided us with a plentiful supply of fond memories.

Punk’s rendition may not have been the most technically proficient, and it wasn’t incorporated as a finishing manoeuvre, but the Second City Saint made up for that by frequently utilising the move in some of the biggest spots in his matches.

His efforts at WrestleMania 29 against the Undertaker and Extreme Rules 2012 against Chris Jericho are two prime examples of this, when Punk did what none of the aforementioned entries ever have, launching himself from inside the ring to the announce table outside.

It was that penchant for the spectacular that earns Punk the no. 7 slot on this list.

Furthermore, for the pockets of fans that like to criticise him for the sloppiness of the move, that could be attributed to the injuries he was carrying towards the end of his WWE career—not least the potentially fatal staph infection that went untreated for months.
