As amazing as Shane’s elbow drops were though, they were only utilised on very rare occasions. Mick Foley however, used his night after night throughout his career, and though they lacked the heights of Shane’s leaps, they were similarly dangerous.

In line with his status as the Hardcore Legend, a straightforward elbow drop was never going to be enough for Foley. As such, his version was executed from atop the apron and delivered to his opponent on the outside. That’s essentially the same distance as a top rope flying elbow drop—except the landing is incredibly harder.

The move became a signature part of Foley’s matches, often followed up with his deranged “Bang, Bang!” catchphrase. But as well as that, he’d frequently adapt the move for whatever environment he was in at the time. cage, stage, announcer’s table—you name it, Foley tried it.
